Paid market research - This how-to guide will give you advice on where to find paying surveys, and then, advise you on some of the common pitfalls to avoid. This piece won't make exaggerated claims that you'll make lots of cash - no hyperbole here!
1.
To find a decent paid market research group, you'll need to start searching. One possible way to seek a group is to type: 'paid surveys' into Google. Take a look at the results. Now at this point you'll realize that there is alot to choose from! So where do you begin?
2.
Step 2
It's a bad idea at this stage to sign-up with any paid survey group and dive right in. You could write down a small list of sites you like the look of, then, try searching the name of the site with something like: 'survey site scam' (replace 'survey site' with the one on your list). What you're looking for are genuine reviews or complaints by people who have tried a certain company. Now, this can take quite a long time! There is a quicker way to narrow down the decent survey sites.
The best way that I learned was to join a forum (free) that have members with years of experience in taking surveys. It's called SurveyPolice (link is under resources at the bottom), and you're able to pose questions that has anything to do with paid market research. This is much quicker than trying to look around for (sometimes biased) results on Google.
3.
Step 3
So you've found a few survey sites to join, what now? Well, it's a good idea to have ready a throw-away email address. This is just in case a site sells your email address to other companies. You could end up with SPAM, which isn't nice. Never use your everyday email. You can get a free spare email address at: Googlemail, Hotmail, etc.
When you sign-up, you'll usually have to fill out a short survey which defines who you are (in terms of demographics). This screening process include questions such as: your age, total money coming in, type of job, etc. Don't worry, the key is to answer as honestly as possible.
4.
Step 4
So finally, you just wait. It usually takes 1-2 weeks until you hear from the survey group.
Note: It's a good idea to get familiar with some pitfalls that you could encounter. I've included a link at the bottom of this page under 'Resources' that gives advice.
Good luck with your applications.
